Event Description
Reception: Sunday, July 15 from 2 to 5 p.m.
This exhibit features works by Vivian Schuyler Key, a Harlem Renaissance artist who was the first African-American fine arts graduate of the famed Pratt Institute. Key was a sculptor and painter who had established herself during the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s, and she was a mentor to many New York-based artists. However, Key's place in art history is not as prominent as her male contemporaries. She is well known by many as an illustrator for The CRISIS Magazine during the Harlem Renaissance.
This event is part of the National Black Arts Festival.
