Event Description
This retrospective for Atlanta’s beloved Ruth Laxson features more than 125 works, including paintings, drawing and sculptures, as well as original artist books, mail art and more. Included in the exhibition are works from several public and private collections and early works that have never been shown before. Curated by Marcia Wood, a prominent Atlanta gallery owner, and Jo Anne Paschall, a Director of Nexus Press, this exhibition surveys the breadth and depth of this 88-year-old artist’s work and celebrates the legacy of a true master throughout a long career. The catalogue accompanying the exhibition includes essays by Laurie Whitehall Chong, Special Collections Librarian and Curator of Artists' Books at the Fleet Library at Rhode Island School of Design, and Margaret Shufeldt, retired Curator of Works on Paper at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University.
