Event Description
Held every spring, The Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF) is an Academy Award-qualifying, international film festival and ATLFF365's signature event. Started in 1976, the festival shows a diverse range of independent films, including genre films such as horror and sci-fi, and hosts a variety of events, workshops and parties. Opening night features the film "Mud," which stars Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, and closing night features a screening of "The Spectacular Now," which was directed by Athens, Ga., native and 2008 Atlanta Film festival Screenplay Competition Winner James Ponsoldt. Venues for this year's festival include 7 Stages, Plaza Theatre, Druid Hills Baptist Church and The Goat Farm Arts Center.
